Sports participation
On the 25th of May I participated in an open gym session with the Umatilla girls basketball team We played for about 2.5 hours, and one thing that was very apparent is that I am out of shape. I find myself cherry picking more then I used to, but at least I do it on the defensive end. I have recently accepted a coaching position with this school, and have found these activities to be a great way to get to know the kids before summer basketball starts. We played games of 5 on 5, and switched the teams up after each game. Myself and the head coach were the only guys there, so we always guard each other. I try not to block very many shots, or even shoot the ball that much. My preference is that these kids get the experience of playing with each other. Read more »

What to Change - Maybe try to have the glove a little more in front of the body and get down a little lower and a little quicker but this is nitpicking. Read more »

Teacher Evaluation
I was evaluated on my teaching volleyball skills to third graders and cup stacking to kindergarten. Looking at my evaluation sheet I did very well over all. My evaluator told me that as teachers we should always be growing and education overall is always changing. With that said a five in most areas would not happen. I completely understand his thinking and agree. With that being said, he did give me mostly fours with a few fives in the professionalism and management. Overall he said I did a great job.

obesity
As obesity continues to rise and climb to the top of many experts concerns, studies are showing that obesity for children are at an all time high. Studies indicate that as of 1999- 2002 16 percent of youth students ranging from age 6 through 19 are overweight, and another 31 percent are at risk for being overweight. There are several factors that the book indicates that may have an effect on weight gain for instance the book points out heredity. in the book it states that heredity and maturation can strongly impact fitness scores as studies show that with the passing of traits from offspring’s can really affect some scores of certain individuals which in my opinion can also bring down a young child’s self esteem prohibiting him or her from being motivated to work out.
