Proposal - Indoor Track @ EOU
We (me, Orie Gamez, and Carla Hoppie) were under the impression that we posted everything for our indoor track proposal last week but were sadly mistaken. Attached are PDF documents that provide the building's architectural layout (blueprint) , building costs and other statistics, PowerPoint presentation, supporting PowerPoint slide text, EOU's fitness center schedules, survey/questaire, and a formal writeup summarizing our proposal . Thank you and we sincerely apologize for this mistake!

Inventory Project
Here is my inventory project from Greenwood elementary school here in La Grande, I spoke to one of the fifth grade teachers and he was ecstatic that someone was will to actually do an inventory. He gave me the last known numbers from the previous inventory and we discussed what would work best for him to use in the future. My son helped me count and gave me some of the descriptions of the equipment which I found interesting. I don't recall having so many different items.

Presentation for P.E. Workshops for Classroom Teachers
Our school district is looking at having to make $1.5 million for the 2010-2011 school year. P.E. teachers will most likely be one of the casualties in this fallout. If so, classroom teachers will be left to shoulder the responsibility of teaching P.E. After many conversations with these teachers, I came up with this proposal in order to ensure that teachers get the proper training and support necessary to providing their students with a high quality physical education program.

Updating Linfield Athletics Website - Paper
Updating Linfield Athletics Website

Abstract
There seems to be no cap on fans’ passion for college sports, and athletic departments are enhancing the interactive viewing experience on their Websites accordingly. (C. Braff, December 10, 2009)
Service Learning Experience
For my service learning project I spent my volunteer hours helping a local high school athletic director with some behind-the-scenes work for his athletic department. With high school winter sports seasons coming to an end, and spring sports about to begin, the athletic director asked for help with coach performance evaluations. In the past the coaches met with the athletic director throughout the year, and also at the end of their season, but the athletic director wasn’t happy with the performance evaluation form they had in place. My job was to create a presentation of three different coach evaluation forms that gave descriptions of each, as well as my recommendation as to which one to implement into their athletic department. OOPS! My proposal
I was wondering why no one had commented on my proposal and I kept checking to see if it was under my work and it was, and then I saw that it wasn't on Sather's list of proposal, and I checked one more time, and when I completed it last saturday night, I didn't put it as complete I accidently left it in edit. So please everyone look at my proposa, I was feeling left out. Thanks for your time.

Risk Management Project
I travelled west to visit home a couple weeks ago and visited a sports complex one day to get in some cross training and decided to examine the fitness facility for risks that may lead to injury or lawsuit. This particular sports complex had a weight room, basketball court, two racquetball courts, and a swimming pool. As I was cross training, I paid close attention to the facility and evaluated it thoroughly. While lifting weights, I noticed a few cable machines were not lubed up enough and would stick while performing my exercises. If these machines are not properly maintained, several potential dangers can exist such as the cables snapping and/or the machines literally fall apart. Read more »
Proposal Discussion
Proposal discussions should be ongoing in the next couple days. All of the proposals should be listed here now, and if I have missed any please let me know:
http://www.unicommons.com/proposal-presentations-sport-management-winter-2010
Right now I am seeing mostly platitudes and positive feedback on the proposals. More critical questions need to be asked and the presenter should respond to these questions promptly. Examine the proposals as if you are on a committee that would potentially approve funding. People on committees like this are very, very tough with questions.

Proposal to Add a Strength and Conditioning Coach to EOU
Nearly all major universities have a strength and conditioning coach as well as a team of assistants. These coaches handle the weight room activities of the sports team and know exactly what lifts and conditioning drills each sport should be doing to maximize the performance of their athletes. Sport Court Proposal
My proposal is to turn the old pool area in Quinn Coliseum into a recreation center with a Sport Court floor strictly for use by the students. This recreation center would include a basketball court, with holes prepared for a volleyball net.

Service Learning
For my service learning project I shadowed Barrett Henderson, Sports Information/Marketing Director, at a double head softball game in Saturday March 6th between Eastern Oregon University and Northern Idaho College. My roll for this even was to assist in running the scoreboard, music selction for timeouts, between innings, and in between games, and the announcing of players, plus assisting in the cleanup of the electrical equipment. I was able to see how the mechanics of running the score board worked, and was able to pick music that was diverse enough to keep the interest of the fans regardless of age. These are important aspects of any sporting event, keeping the score board up to date with the correct number of balls and strikes, what inning it is, and the score help Read more »
Flaggers Needed
Beyond comments, another good way to provide feedback is through flags. There hasn't been widespread flagging this term so far. Since it is a common way to communicate and control content in online settings, I suggest you do more of this with as you read others work in the class these final weeks.
Flagging is a notation or mark associated with content. There are several flag options on posts, which you will find linked at the bottom of each post. Simply click the appropriate flag and the work has been flagged. You can toggle the flag on or off by clicking the link. Read more »
