SMART Goals (Doran, 1981)
- Specific: Target a specific area to improve.
- Measurable: Quantify or at least suggest an indicator for assessment.
- Assignable: Specify who will do it. (Some have substituted "adjustable" for the "A" in smart)
- Realistic: What can be achieved. Shoot for the stars?
- Time-related: Specify when it will be achieved.
