Analysis of Teaching (#4)
The class came in and put their shoes on quickly and we were able to start right away. We used a new rule where one whistle meant freeze and two whistles meant go. I forgot once to whistle twice and they were quick to let me know that I forgot haha. We had all the kids gather in the circle while I gave directions for the first game. They spread out throughout the court and we played a game where they had to pretend to be whatever I told them to be. They absolutely loved this game. I was really scared that they were not going to like it at all, but they proved me wrong :) Their teacher was laughing the whole time as they were pretending to do some of the movements. I think when I told them to pretend to be a snake this was the favorite for all of us. We pulled them in the middle again and explained the rules for the next game "One, Two, Three" which again they really enjoyed. The last game we decided to play was line tag. I was nervous that they would not like this game or not understand the rules, but they all knew the rules of the game. They did an amazing job playing and listening. It was fun to watch them! We pulled the kids into the middle to do a cheer at the end of the lesson and one of the boys came up to me and hugged me. (This made my day) He is one of the kids who usually has a hard time listening and usually messes around, but he came and hugged me and said "What is your name again?" I said, "Kami" and he said, "Well when we do the cheer, can we say Kami?" It made me smile and that was a great feeling to know that they were enjoying themselves. And he gave me another hug before they left! While they were lining up to head to class one of the girls in the class said. "Our whole class is going to miss you guys" Such a great feeling! So to sum it up. This was a great day!
