WSKW 2010 Conference Call for Proposals

The Western Society for Kinesiology & Wellness (WSKW) has an annual conference every fall in Reno. I've talked about this before in a couple other classes, where I encouraged students to participate. There is a great opportunity for students to share work in what is called the Peavy Papers. Now is a good time to plan to present a proposal for the Peavy Papers and plan to attend the conference. We will have some transportation from La Grande going Reno for the conference. I am also looking for a couple student reviewers from EOU to review Peavy papers, so if you are interested please contact me directly. Both presentations and being a reviewer are excellent resume builders. I guarantee you'll enjoy your experience with the other peers and professionals at this conference.

My main duty as president-elect of WSKW is to plan the conference. Last week I sent out a call for proposals to the organization email list that read as follows:

The 55th Annual WSKW Conference will be held on October 13-15, 2010 at Harrah’s in Reno, Nevada. You will find an attached document with the call for proposals and other conference information. I have also set up a website at www.WSreno.com where your proposals can be submitted directly. Once the schedule is completed, this will provide the opportunity for everyone to preview the sessions before the conference.

I hope you are planning now to attend. I look forward to your participation in the 2010 conference in Reno.

At the website you will also find a email entry box for joining the WSKW email list, so you can get all the future correspondence.

This is something I would be interested in. It sounds like you can submit just about anything as long as it pertains to particular aspects fitness correct?

Yes Chase, any topics in kinesiology or wellness are considered for the Peavy Papers. I recommend taking a recent paper or project you are currently working on and prepare it to submit according to the guidelines. I'm happy to provide guidance in developing the paper, so please ask questions.

Can you do a project but not attend the conference? Perhaps have it presented by someone who does go? I would be interested, however, going all the way to Reno from West Virginia is not going to be an option for me I dont believe.

Yes, that is an option for the Peavy Papers. You would have to coordinate with someone that is going to have them present for you, perhaps even co-authoring with you.

That sounds like something I'd like to do. I will look more into it. Thanks for the information!
