Proposal Schedule
Next week is the time frame to present proposals. These can be presented any time during the week, but they all should be in by the end of the week (Saturday). Don't forget that each proposal must have a "presentation" which links to the "paper." The presentation is what everyone will read first. Once proposals start posting, discussion surrounding them should ensue. Everyone should view the presentations and ask questions of the presenter as comments on the presentation. Presenters should check their presentations often and answer questions. This should continue through the next week until Exam 2 is posted, which marks the end of the term.

I need help... I'm trying to figure out how to load my presentation (into Create Media). I created a power point but the media uploader doesn't accept ppt files. I've converted my presentation to jpeg and gif but that would mean I would have to attach each slide one at a time! Any suggestions?
I recommend uploading the powerpoint to Google Docs. Then, use the embed code they provide (which is an iframe embed) and then you follow the instructions at the top of the "create media" form to embed that presentation there. Try this process and let me know if you have questions along the way. Click here for an example of what it will look like when presented.
Dr. Sather, would you rather us use the Google Docs, or is it ok if we change the powerpoint into a pdf?
I was able to set-up the Google Docs acct and upload my powerpoint and email it back to myself as a pdf. I couldn't figure out what you meant by "inframe embed" and how to attach it as your example (above) showed. I also couldn't figure out the directions at the top of "create media" with regards to html. So I went ahead and posted my presentation already (using the pdf). Is there a Google Docs for Dummies because their Help was no help to me at all...
Powerpoint to PDF was another option that I hesitated to mention, because I think the embed (with Google Docs) will present itself better. If you want to use PDF, media presentations will allow for that and in some cases this may be a better approach for you. Also, it is interesting to note that Google Docs allows you to add audio to each slide which will play for the viewer.
Rosette, the "iframe" is a code that Docs provides under the "share" button, which I think is at the top right. What you need to do is copy that code. When you click on the HTML button on the editor it will open up a pop-up window where you can paste the code directly in there. That is the "embed" of a code to activate the powerpoint display. When you save it, it should display your powerpoint.
You can play around with this with your presentation set to unpublished (a setting just above the save button). Then, when it is all ready, you can save it as published so everyone can see.
Thanks! I'll try your suggestions.
