Performance Evaluation
The performance evaluation is for a head coach for any type of sports at the high school level. The evaluation is a formal structured system which measures the coach on a rating scale basis. This particular evaluation rates the coach on excellent, good, average, below average and poor. Although there are numbers listed under each category, this evaluation does affiliate a total score with the success of the coach being evaluated. The number is a way for the evaluator to indicate which rating scale they fall under.
The evaluation will be conducted by the athletic director. The evaluation will be performed for each head coach, which has completed their sports season. The results will be reviewed by the head coach and athletic director. The superintendent and principal of the school will also been shown the evaluation to keep them informed about the coaching staff’s evaluation process and how the coach performed according to the evaluation. The results of the coaching evaluation will be kept in the coach’s personnel file for future reference and used as a comparison for years to come.
The evaluation instruments were based on important aspects of the head coaching job. The instruments used in this particular evaluation were selected based on conversations with a variety of athletic directors and coaches. The textbook was also used to help depict this particular evaluation.
