This is a great proposal! I think it would be extremely beneficial to the students and would definitly not go unused! I also think its a perfect idea to simply add an extra $12 dollars each quarter as a building fee for students. For simply an extra $36 a year I am sure no one would have a problem with that expecially when another court would create so many added benefits for the student population. And its also great that the funds for this project can be formed within one year. Overall, great job!
Nice idea, although being a pool person I hate to see them closed. It sounds like a good way to help the general students have an arrea to stay acttive though.
Two questions: Will a full-size basketball court currently fit in the facility? How easy (i.e. hard) is it to add a fee like you are proposing for students?
A full sized high school court is 50' wide by 84' feet long. In my presentation I stated that the ideal court size in the pool area would be a 50' by 84' court which fits in the pool building since the dimensions of that building are 72' by 100'. Yet Sport Court also shrinks down the courts to make them fit in whatever area you have to work with. In regards to your other question about adding a fee to all the students, I have to say that I didn't research this and have no idea how hard it would be to add a fee like that. I would have to research and contact school officials to understand the process of adding a fee. Great question about something that I didn't even think about when proposing this! Thanks for the insight into that issue.
I love the idea of adding another court to what sounds like a community that is in need of more gym space (see little hoopers presentation). I also think that gym fees could be raised to rent out the space to other community groups (sports groups in particular) for usage on the weekends. Great idea to utilize what sounds like is a currently unusable building on campus!
