This is a great proposal! You put it together with a lot of information and in a format that is easy to follow and understand. I like how you broke down the proposal into steps with information on each step, like the fundraising, equipment, and schedule. All in all this project was well crafted! Great work!!!
I appreciate your feedback and positive comments. I worked hard and in a small amount of time....I really couldn't have done it all without my other coaches. I think this team will learn a lot this summer and hopefully grow into more skillful players.
I think this is a great proposal! It seems very well thought out. I like that you help the girls put together a portfolio for college. I also like how you delegate different jobs for parents. I don't really understand the car wash, pre-selling tickets concept though. Can you explain that better?
The reason why we pre-sell tickets is to ensure that we make money. When we pre-sell tickets the people who buy them can either come and get their car washed or not show up, it's kinda like donations. I've had carwash's before and sometimes we don't get that many customers which in turn doesn't make us any money. So if we sell the tickets before hand, it gives the person an option of getting their car wash and we're making money.
I think your proposal is sound, but was wondering if the google docs changed the formating of your powerpoint when it converted it? Some of the images are covering up the text on some slides, while oters have the level of indent different than it looks like should be. This should be fixed if possible before you would present it to a group for approval.
I think your proposal was well thought out. However, I'm a little confused as I assumed that you are proposing that a 16U team be put together but I already see that you have a team rostered. Is that the players moving up from the division below? Also, do you plan on having a team manager? I noticed that position was missing. My son plays travel ice hockey and every team is required to have a team manager to run the budget, travel arrangements, and deal with the communication between the coaches and parents. Finally, what was your rational for choosing Mt.Vernon and Meridian, ID for tournaments? Those places seem very far and costly for a new team.
The tournaments that we chose were the only ones that were available on those certain dates. Mt. Vernon is only about 30 minutes away from Bellingham, which is where our team is located. There aren't any tournaments located directly in our area because they are usually held around bigger cities and softball complex's because that is where most of the teams are at.The reason why we have a tournament in Meridian ID, is because it is ASA regionals, so if our team wanted to participate in regionals and have the chance to go nationals then we had to go to the tournament in ID.
I have played on many softball teams and basketball teams, and I have never had a team manager. The coaches are in charge, and i stated in the team meeting area that we delegated responsibilities to the parents to help out with the fundraising, hotel and travel plans, as well as equipment. The main coaches wife takes care of the budget, she is very responsible and experienced. Both of her daughters went to play in college for softball. I played on a summer softball team for the main coach for 7 years, and everything ran smoothly, and there hasn't been a tournament team since I was in high school, so we thought it would be a great idea to put a team together, so we could give the girls extra opportunities.
As for the slide presentation, I think that the formatting did mess up my slide show, however I wasn't to fix that, the whole process was very complicated and difficult, so I did the best I could with what I had. Thank you for your input.
Thanks for sharing your rational behind the decision of picking tournaments. I didn't mentally connect that the Mt. Vernon tournament was close to your teams' location. Do you forsee trying to pick specific tournaments in the future in order to "market" your players to scouts? Going back to my son, we have travel teams (within our division) who travel alot so that the players can be "seen" by scouts. While this can be cost prohibitive, it has allowed many players to be "invited" to play for some great teams and colleges.
This is a great project you have created! It is very organized and I think its great that your part of giving these girls an opportunity to play and continue to improve their skills to prepare for the next level. For volleyball I played for various club teams in high school and found it to be a great opportunity to be recruited. For volleyball we went to Las Vegas for a huge volleyball tournament where many scouts came to watch. Have you considered attending a tournament that is in a large city and of a big scale where the girls can recieve some major exposure? Along with Rosette's comment I agree it can be quite costly, however the benefits can be innumerable! Just a suggestion!
