Service Learning
For my service learning project I shadowed Barrett Henderson, Sports Information/Marketing Director, at a double head softball game in Saturday March 6th between Eastern Oregon University and Northern Idaho College. My roll for this even was to assist in running the scoreboard, music selction for timeouts, between innings, and in between games, and the announcing of players, plus assisting in the cleanup of the electrical equipment. I was able to see how the mechanics of running the score board worked, and was able to pick music that was diverse enough to keep the interest of the fans regardless of age. These are important aspects of any sporting event, keeping the score board up to date with the correct number of balls and strikes, what inning it is, and the score helps the fans understand what is going on in the game.
