ON TO STATE!
I was at the Pendleton high school playoff basketball game the other night. I still have pride in my school and always will hope for success in their athletic programs.
My high school coach is stepping down after this season, his son is a senior and he has a little girl her wants to coach as she goes through middle school.
It was an amazing game. After being down about 9 to 24 in the first quarter the Bucks fought back the rest of the game. Full court press, getting steals, and ones, and so much more. As the game progressed the game got closer and the packed house of fans, students, and parents continued to get wilder. As a former player and a future coach it just opened my eyes to what it’s all about. The whole place on their feet yelling and clapping during the last 2 whole minutes of the game. Of course it ended as an overtime thriller to top everything off.
I know it’s about a lot more than just this, but as you see a group of kids that were freshman when you were a senor grow over the years you become a fan. When you start your freshman year you have a dream of being the best. It meant so much to see this group of kids stay together all four years, and really work toward there goal.
I wasn’t only happy for the kids that I would call friends but also to a great coach. It’s his last year coaching and his first state tournament appearance with his son and all his friends. The last basketball tournament appearance was over 10 years ago when my dad was coaching. Just makes you smile to see good things happen to good people because they earned it through hard work and dedication.
They play this Thursday in Eugene and I’m going to be there because it’s I know my support will not go unnoticed.

Last year I was able to go to my sister's state appearance and felt the same. I was so excited for those girls. I just loved seeing them succeed and work together. It opened my eyes to understand how much I care and want to coach. I have played with those girls and coached some of them and it is so rewarding to realize you are a part of that. Since then I have really tried to step up my game and want to help those at the high school level.
Please keep us updated on how their game goes on Thursday :)
Well unfortunately they both but they were in both games in the fourth quarter. They got a bad draw after upsetting the 5 team in the state when they were 11 they had the number 1, 2, and 4, teams in the top half of the bracket with them. I love my time supporting them because I was able to shoot on the Ducks court and go in the locker rooms with the team. You could say I sort of lived my dream through them ha ha.
