Central Elementary: last lesson analysis of the term

We taught our last lesson plan Tuesday. It was exciting and sad at the same time.  We decided we would have a fun day.  We played their favorite tag game as a warm up "Trees", the absolutely love this game.  For the rest of class we played parachute games.  The kids noticed the parachute on the stairs and immediately were asking if we were going to play with it. It was cute.  We taught them how to wave the parachute nicely and showed them how to properly hold and tighten the parachute.  We played popcorn and tried to keep all the balls on the parachute and than we tried to get them all off, we showed them that it would be easier if they worked together to get the balls off by going all up at once and than going up at once, to pop the balls off, they had fun.  Then we taught them how to make a mushroom, they enjoyed this as well.  The only problem we had was when I told them to go lift the parachute up and go inside the mushroom, I forgot to tell them to keep holding onto the parachute so they all let go and it came toppling on top of them, when i corrected them and they all did it correct they wanted to keep doing it.  After class we got them a each a sucker and gave them all hugs.  It was a great day!

How fun! Good idea with the suckers! :) Sounds like you ladies did a great job teaching this term!

WOW...We really enjoyed ourselves! There was the stressful times and the good times. This was one of my best experiences with kids in general! I had so much fun and learned alot!! THey really enjoyed everything I think, Expecially the suckers and the parachute!

Oh...And the look on their faces....We were having troubles having them sit on the edge of the parachute when making a mushroom, as kami said, so the next time I went under with them. AS SOON as they got underneath, there were several kids that instantly began running around not doing their part. When I reminded them that they were supposed to have their section under them (they didn't know I was under there with them) they got big eyed and obediently returned to their seats. Then I pointed out how the mushroom didn't collaps as quickly because everyone was doing their part of not letting the air in! So they were introduced to a little bit of a team/joint effort type concept! It was a really fun day! And I also enjoyed the hugs and suckers at the end of class!!
