Equipment: Parachute
Balls
Whistle
Objectives: - Students use strength of their arms to lift, wave and hold a parachute.
- Students will use memory and skill to do specific tasks.
-Students will use teamwork to get the parachute up, and to get the balls off the parachute.
Introductory Activity: “Trees”
Time: 10 minutes
*Two taggers (in middle)
*Line all students up on the end line
*Taggers say “trees”
*Other students try to run to other end line without getting tagged
*If tagged, stand in that place as a stationary tagger…Cannot take steps, runners have to go around the trees without getting tagged.
Teaching Cues: Safety first, don’t get tagged by the trees, look up when you’re running, TREES stay in one spot and can only blow in the wind!
Fitness Activity: Parachute games
Time: 15-20 minutes
-Warm up by having the students get on the outside of the parachute and pick it up and start waving it up and down. (make ripples in the parachute)
-tell students to do a light wave and then increasingly wave more
Popcorn
-After they have the rippling down, we will toss 2 or 3 balls on and have them bounce the balls on the parachute, trying to keep them on the parachute. Then we will tell them to try to the balls off the parachute.
Trampoline
-Next we will have the kids try to make the parachute as tight as possible.
Mushroom
-Students will practice holding the parachute on the ground and lift up when teacher says to lift up.
Stuck Inside
-the students will lift the parachute up in the air, move inside the parachute while, keeping it up, and then pulling the parachute down and sitting on the inside of the parachute.
Merry Go Round
-the students will turn in a circle while waving the parachute and switch directions
Teaching Cues: Keep the umbrella up
Listen closely
Run to the same color you left
When going inside the mushroom, do not let go of the parachute

I like the quality of the work you put in. This type of activity seems to keep the kids in active duty and having them move around a lot. I like how you incorporated games as well as safety procedures. I also like your teaching cues there pretty much on target and having the right ideas for this particular activity. Perhaps on one little thing you should just might one to put some refrences to your work.
