Lesson Plan
Grade Level: 2nd
Class Size: 20 students
Objectives: Give the students an opportunity to be active for 30-40 minutes strait, while learning new skills and games. Most important give the young students a chance to have fun.
Equipment:
- Two footballs
- Four Soccer goals
- Gym or field playing surface
Warm - Up: Red Light Green Light
- Start students on one end of gym or field.
- Teacher class out red light & green light.
- Students try and not be the last one to the other side of the gym or field.
- Students start moving when teacher says green light and stop moving when the teacher says red light.
- Teacher can change how the students move across the playing surface.
Examples
- Jogging
- Sprinting
- Skipping
- Lunges
- Back Pedaling
- Side Shuffle
Lesson Activity: Football Soccer
Students will be broken up into four teams of five. Once the teams have been made they will be sent to one of the fields to play another team. Games will be 5 minutes long. Each team will play every team atleast once.
Directions:
- Try to throw the football into the other teams soccer goal.
- Teams can throw the ball backwards, forwards, and side to side.
- Reciever may not run with the ball once the ball is caught.
- Ball may not be kicked at anytime.
- When a goal is scored the ball is given to the other team, at or near their own goal.
- Defense trys to prevent the offense from throwing the ball into their soccer goal.
Teaching Cues: Catch the ball, use accurate throws, keep feet moving when without the ball.
Closing Activity: Open Gyme
Once all the teams have played each other and or your ready to stop the lesson activity, time permitting grant the students some open gym time for their hard work.
Equipment to use for open gym.
- Footballs
- Volleyballs
- Soccer balls
- Basketballs
- Frisbees
- Jump ropes
Five minutes before class ends have students collect all the equipment and return it to its proper place.
