Instant Activity: “Frisbee Toss”  Have students get into the general space and have them begin throwing to themselves by tossing the Frisbee up in the air while standing still.  Have them throw high and low tosses to themselves while walking throughout the general space..  Make sure that safety is implemented.

Set Induction: “Welcome class, let me ask you a question. Can anybody tell me an activity that is enjoyed by old men as well as young students? What about one that is played on not just fields but beaches parking lots and even on top of mountains? How about an activity that only requires one piece of equipment? Well I can tell you one… it’s Frisbee. Frisbee is one of my favorite sports, And over the next 4 lessons  we will be learning all about it.  “GO!”

Instruction: “One of the greatest games that can be played with a Frisbee is Ultimate Frisbee. Has anybody played ultimate Frisbee before? Good well for those of you who have not, its very simple. The field, as you can see has an enzone, one on each side. The object of the game is to catch a pass in this enzone (much like football). But here’s the tricky part- the only way to move the Frisbee is to pass and catch it with your team. Now the other team will try to keep you from moving it by breaking up your passes. If your team’s pass is dropped, intercepted, or blocked, the Frisbee is automatically awarded to the other team. All right so lets get ready to play.”

I really enjoyed my time in Mike’s class room.  Being a very team sports oriented guy I found that using the Frisbee as the main focus of our lesson plan has opened my eyes to other ideas in which I can use in future lesson plans.  These new found ideas can help make my future PE classes much more diverse in nature to the run of the mill team sports.  I really liked how Mike’s class reacted to the idea of learning not only about the Frisbee but the various games that come along with it.   The students seemed eager to learn the new skill and were very vocal about how they looked forward to future classes with Mike and learning more about all the fun they could have with a Frisbee.
