Objectives (Specific, Behavioral, Assessable)
- By the end of the lesson, students will demonstrate their ability to achieve extreme accuracy by hitting small targets.
- Students will demonstrate accuracy with different targets.
- Students will demonstrate accuracy while in various throwing angles.
- By the end of the lesson, students will demonstrate their knowledge by reciting the following cues when asked to do so by the teacher
- Point finger during follow through.
- Step directly towards the target.
- Focus intently on where the Frisbee needs to go.
- By the end of the lesson, students will demonstrate their knowledge by reciting the following cues when asked to do so by the teacher
- The teacher will monitor the day’s lesson as well as relay information through demonstrations and explanations.
Equipment: (for a class of 20 students)
- 20 Frisbees
- Targets for golf game
Protocol
- Go on the word Go.
- Stop means to put equipment down and listen to the teacher.
- Halo means to form a circle around the teacher.
Class Rules:
- Be respectful to others
- Follow directions provided by teacher
- Respect equipment
- No Gum
- Have fun
- 1st offence- teacher will remind student of rules.
- 2nd offence-Pull student from activity and give student time out.
- 3rd offence-student will be sent to the principal’s office, have student write down his/her actions and have parents sign.
Instant Activity: “Sprint for Fun!” Have students demonstrate the various sprinting abilities by having them perform 10 yard sprints, 20 yard sprints, and 40 yard sprints.
Set Induction: “How many of you have ever watched or played golf? Well, today we are going to begin the skills necessary to play a form of golf called Frisbee golf. What we are going to work on is extreme accuracy, by hitting smaller targets.”

- Have your miniature Frisbee golf course already assembled in the gym. Try to make it creative and appealing with many challenges.
- Have equipment spread out by distributing Frisbees at all “holes”.
- Have students find a partner with the same color shoes.
Informing Task: “When I say go you may all jog to a hole and begin GO!”
- Watch for skill level
- Practice back to wall and proximity.
Informing Task: “STOP!” When I say go, find a target on the wall and begin to throw the Frisbee at the target by yourself. “GO!”
- Make sure everyone has a Frisbee and has safe personal space.
Try to hit the target while throwing from a different angle.
When throwing for accuracy, try to point your index finger at the target.
How many times can you hit the target?
Informing Task: “STOP!” when I say go, I would like for each of you to find a Frisbee and a partner and continue playing a short round of Frisbee golf while using the index finger technique within our general space. “GO!”
Informing Task: “STOP!” When I say go, find a target on the wall and begin to throw the Frisbee at the target by yourself. “GO!”
- Demonstrate skill to students.
Those who wish, step back 5 giant steps and continue to aim for your target.
Be sure to step directly towards target with the same foot.
- Make sure area is safe for all.

- Great job today class. What are the cues for hitting a non- moving target? Point your index finder. And always step directly towards the target with your same foot. And last…always focus intently on the target. Great job class!

Comments: Mike performed excellent class management throughout the entire class period. Mike made sure that he had all the equipment and materials that he would need to properly to teach the class out and ready before the students were even dressed down. Mike managed his time very well and completed everything that he had planned in his lesson plan.

- 2-4 instructional teaching cues are presented that are concise yet descriptive.
- The sequence of activity follows a clear progression from introductory activities to conclusion.
Comments: I really liked Mike’s lesson plan for Ultimate Frisbee accuracy. It was a good mix of drills and games, which gave the lesson plan plenty of activities to keep the class busy throughout the entire class period. The lesson plan was very well organized and had good instructions making it easy to read and follow.

- Games are enjoyable for the students.
- The instructional focus for the day is emphasized by the game.
- An adequate number of activities are scheduled for the class.
Comments: The activities that Mike used in his lesson seemed to keep the interest of his students. His students showed good energy and participation all class period. I believe the mix of game time and drills were good. This allowed the students to learn a new skill and than apply it to a game like setting.
Presentation of Information 3/3
- Accurate description of sport skills, rules, and activities.
- Information is understandable and appropriate to the level of the learner.
- The teacher follows the lesson plan, only deviating when appropriate.
Comments: The information that Mike taught to his students was easy for them to understand and than apply to the activities they were asked to do. Mike is very patient with his kids and did a good job of making sure they understood what was being asked of them.
Instructor Feedback 3/3
- Feedback is accurate and specific to the learner.
- Both corrective and positive feedback are provided where appropriate.
- Instructor moves around the class giving attention to various students.
Comments: I like how Mike is not afraid to give corrective feedback to his students. He does it in away that is very appropriate, as well as sensitive to the students feelings. His positive feedback was impressive too. Mike’s students seem to really respect him and what he has to say.
Sequence 2/2
- The activities and instruction follow a logical progression for the teaching session.
- The lesson is in a logical sequence in relation to the unit plan and overall curriculum.
Comments: Mike’s lesson plan did fell nicely into place for the subject and unit plan he had been following in class.
Final Comments
Again like the first time I watched Mike teach I really enjoyed being apart of his class. Mike is an excellent teacher, and does a great job with the elementary students. His kids really seem to like him to. They stay on task very well and work hard throughout the entire class period. The students also really seem to respect Mike too, not once did I see a student challenge or back talk him. I was very impressed by this and hope that some of Mike’s teaching style rubs off on me.

Comments: Brian did a wonderful job instructing the class. Everything was well organized and had appropriate tempo for the grade he was teaching. He used his time efficiently and transitions were great. Most of the students were good, and when one got off task ,Brian would walk over to the area of the student. Thus, eliminating student's misbehaviors.

Comments: Instructions were based on NASPE standards. Activities were developmentally age appropriate and in a sequence that students could understand. Brian did a great job explaining instructions to students.

Comments: The activities were designed for maximum participation for all students. The focus was all about the Frisbee Golf game. Brian did a great job of knowing how many activities to have for his class allowing it to run smoothly. The students loved doing the frisbee golf lesson plan!

Comments: Brian did a great job of explaining and demonstrating all the skills necessary in order to be successful when using the frisbee. He did follow the lesson plan for the most part. He did have to stop a kid one time from moving ahead. Most of the students remained on-task and participated throughout the lesson.

Comments: Brian moved around the room when it was needed, and he also moved around the room to help with behavior issues. He gave both positive and corrective feedback when appropriate.

Comments: Brian instructions followed a logical progression. The lesson had great sequence and was planned very well.

Final Comments: Brian did an amazing job of teaching. I gave him a couple of things to work on last time I saw him teach and he improved on all of them. Great job of teaching Brian!
