Station 1:  Chopsticks relay  (Rosette Braaten)

Equipment: Rhthym sticks (2 for each team), and fluff balls (4-6 for each team), frying pan (for each team), cones(for boundaries) and timer.

Activity:  Students break-up into teams.  Each team has to use a  set of rhthym sticks (as chopsticks) to get a fluff ball from a designated area and carry it to their teams frying pan without dropping the fluff ball.  If the fluff ball is dropped then the player has to go back to the designated area and get a "clean" fluff ball.  The team who is able to get the most fluff balls in frying pan after 2-minutes - wins!

Station 2:   3-legged shoe tie race relay (Rosette Braaten)

Equipment: Velcro straps or bandana.

Activity:  Each student has to remove one shoe and place it in a pile at a designated area.  Then students are paired up  (in their teams) and must have their legs tied together with velcro straps or a bandana.  On the whistle, the first pair from each team must walk out to the pile, find their shoes, put them on, and tie their shoe laces while only using one hand from each of the partner.  Once both shoes are one and are tied, they may go back and tag-up with their teammates.  The game is over when everyone has their shoes back on their feet.

Station 3: Parachute Volleyball (Rosette Braaten)

Equipment:  30' Parachute and numerous volleyballs (or any type of large balls), timer

Activity:  One team holds the parachute with the volleyballs placed on top.  Another team is standing around the parachute waiting to catch the balls.  On the whistle, the parachute holding team will begin shaking the volleyballs off the parachute while the other team tries to retrieve the balls and toss them back into the parachute.  After 40-seconds, the parachute stops shaking and the balls are counted.  The teams switch and the process is repeated.

Station 4:  Time Bomb (Rosette Braaten)

Equipment: 8" ball and timer

Activity:  Have the teams line-up.  Give the first person at the front of the line a ball and on the whistle, the first person will pass the ball over his/her head to the next person, that person will take the ball and pass it between his/her legs to the next person.  Everyone will continue to alternate passing the ball (over and under) till the ball travels to the end of the line.  Every team will be timed on how quickly they are able to move the ball from the front of their line to the back.  If the ball drops, the person who drops it must retrieve it and continue from the spot it was dropped.

Station 5: Treasure Hunt (Rosette Braaten)

Equipment:  Copies of maps of the school's playground and field, cones (control markers), envelopes for each team at each control marker, puzzle for each team (you can create your own puzzle by printing a picture from the internet, gluing it to cardstock, laminating it, and cutting into however many squares you want - remember that one square per marker!)

Activity:  Have students break-up into teams.  Give each team a map of the school's playground and field.  Make sure students understand the concepts of reading symbols/key and control markers on a map(orienteering).  Have each group start at different designated areas and travel to the designated markers as noted on their maps.  Each marker will contain a piece of a puzzle.  After the team has retrieved each puzzle piece, they must put together their puzzle.

Station 6: Mini-Badminton Games (Rosette Braaten)

Equipment: Badminton raquets and birdies, basketball court

Activity:  Students in groups of four play other teams of four.  The object is to hit the birdie over the imaginary net which is marked by the half-court line of the basketball court.  The team who is serving is able to score a point if the receiving team does not return the serve.  If the serving team faulters, then the service is turned over to the opposing team.  The team who scores 5 points first - wins!

Station 7: Capture the Flag (Joshua Gray)

Equipment: 4 cones, basketball court, field, something that represents a flag

Activity: There are two teams which can be made up of 4 or more people. Put Each time on each side of the court/field with a line that separates each teams territories (half court/ 50 yard line). On each end of the court place 2 cones a few yards apart with a flag in between them. The goal of the game is to capture the other teams flag and get back to your side without being tagged. If the student crosses the line to the other teams territory than they can be tagged and if they are they are removed from the game either until the game is over or for a specified time. Once a team captures the other teams flag, the game is over.

Station 8: Pass it Around (Beth Judge)

Equipment: 1 iece of equipment per 4 students. Choose a variety of size, shape and weight such as cone, scarf, fluffball, football, utility ball, paddles, etc)

Activity: Students sit in a circle, elbows hooked with neighbors on either side. Put one piece of equipment in front of every 4th student around the circle.

The object is to move all pieces of equipment around the circle WITHOUT USING HANDS! Students use abdominal muscles to keep legs up and pass the various equipment using feet and legs. Try to pass it without letting it touch the ground. Variation: lean back on hands without hooking elbows, call out "Change direction" to add variety.
