Proposal Presentations

Within the next two weeks, you should all have your proposals ready to present. These need to be presented in time for other classmates to ask questions about your proposal. As I mentioned earlier in the term, you will need a written proposal that you will submit as a "Paper" using the link to the right. I have not seen many drafts being worked on yet, so I am assuming you are keeping some of your own drafts saved and will be working on these here on our site soon. Use the "create paper" link to get these started. They are not visible to the group until you are ready and you check the publish box to show your paper to the group. You should do this when you also have your presentation ready.

Your presentation is an important aspect of your proposal. It is the approach you will take to present your concept in a convincing way. The written proposal will have all the details and the presentation is how you sell it. You will note that i have a new "create media" link on the right menu. This link would be best for your presentation. There are several approaches you may want to take, and I will recommend a few options here:

  • Use a online powerpoint: I recommend using Google Docs powerpoint feature because you can place it online easily. If you have it already created in Powerpoint then you can upload it to Google Docs. Then, use the iframe embed feature that Google Docs has to include it as a post using the "create media" link.
  • Make a screencast: You can do a narrate powerpoint or some other screencast that presents your project. You can do this with free software like CamStudio, but make sure to convert the file to a smaller flash file. I can help with this once you get the screencast saved and ready to be converted.
  • Create a video presentation: I can help you get your video online on one of my servers or you can put it on YouTube. Once it is posted online, you can embed it in the "create media" so everyone can view it there and make comments.

I realize that some of these may sound technically intimidating, but I guarantee you can do one of these. It is partially the intent of the assignment to prompt you to become effective at using online presentation methods.

Also, your presentation and proposal should be linked. By this, I mean that your presentation should mention and link to your proposal paper so the audience can easily find it.
