Love the idea of using a rubric. My school also implemented the use of a Rubric, I'm just wondering in your experience, how have you been dealing with grading each child, for every class and when you find the time to keep up. I currently have 25 classes a week with about 25 students in each class and I make a real effort to incorporate but I barely have enough time to get my lessons in and I have trouble staying consistent with my rubric.
I like your content otherwise. Great job.

My wife is a teacher and she told me about this website rubistar.4teachers.org that she uses all the time. It helps her to grade faster and is a fair way to grade especially things that can be subjective. The great thing about the rubrics that you can find on this site is that each point value is defined whether they got a 1 or a 5, with your rubric you could assign a child a 3 or a 4 but they wouldn't know exactly why they got that specific grade without you notating why - each point value should have some sort of description. Check out the website - it is a great resource!

To keep up you use the rubric as you go - if you are grading some sort of physical education test you have the rubric in front of you and circle the point value for each of the assigned topics you are testing - this will save you a ton of time and ensure fair grading across the board.
I like what you've done with this rubric.
Depending on the age of the class I was teaching, I may add a behavior portion, something like -
Treats others with respect, keeps hands and feet to self, uses appropriate language and voice level
Good job with the rubic. I like that the way it is designed, it is individualised for each student, so that no matter what their fitness level is, there is still the opportunity to do well in a class that may intimidate some students.
Time is very limited. That is why I really try and make my rubrics as clear as possible. Unfortunately when I am teaching I do not get to use them as much as I would like because there is not enough time to go threw every student on every technique. My colleagues and I try and sit down at the start of every unit and talk about what we expect the most what we really want to focus on. THen we put together 1 or even sometimes 2 rubrics we will use to evaluate our students. This way we are all on the same page and our students know what to expect.
This is a great rubic. Very simple yet solid. You addressed all categories and subjects that would provide a good foundation of knowledge with each student. Within your rubic behavior, effort, participation, attendance knowledge/safety of the active were included. All of which are extremely important for young students. These types of rubics will also allow each student to observe and learn from the observations acquired from the other students. I recall when I was in PE class, our teacher had a similar rubic. For those students that enjoyed and took the class seriously, they provide great feedback and responses to the rubics. However, for those that had no interest in PE, did not like the teacher or were more of the antisocial/shy type, the rubics were either not completed or completed with no effort. Regardless of these students, I think the positives that come from using a simple yet structured rubic will outweigh those negatives. Great job.
Our mission in JROTC is for students to become better citizens. This is done by consistent enforcement of the rules. You do not say ya, proper English, no sagging of the pants, no low cut shirts and skirts. No profanity, sitting on the tables, no saying shut up. When I talk you listen when you are talking, I will listen. I have zero tolerance for inappropriate actions/behaviors. You will do 10 push-ups for each infraction. We go up 10 push-ups every month. Parents and guardians are called if we can’t get in contact with them, the finish class and cannot come back to my class until we have a fact to face with the parent or guardian. Our high school has RTC, responsible thinking center. I do not send my cadets, I believe that the parents need to be involved regardless how minor, little, big or serious the incident. I don’t make the rules in our school, I will enforce them. This is what works for me and my cadets. Parent involvement is a must. I will call each and every cadets parent or guardian twice a trimester with a positive remark about their child.
