the mypyramidtracker.gov site that I found as I was looking through some of the content of the unicommons site. It breaks down calories in and out, nutritional information, and has quite a bit of additional information, and the best part is it's all free!

It uses an application off of livestrong.com that someone else had mentioned. It's free, but you do have to have a log-in, but it does offer support groups, forums, and other activity ideas
As jennifer and jeremy stated, mypyramidtracker.gov and livestrong.com are both excellent websites. In fact, I use both of them very frequently when designing and building nutritional spreadsheets and programs for my clients. Give both a shot and see what one you personally enjoy.
Adding more sites to the list is a good idea for collaboration. I have a problem with the initiative to pay by the pound though. How does this fit in with the information in our weight management content? If you want to lose weight, the quickest way is to quit drinking water and then jump on the scale and earn some money. And, if you start gaining some strength then you might end up losing some money.
I have a difficult time giving my money up for such an event. Although it sounds like it works for your company. Have you thought about having it last longer than 3 months? Do you do futher research to see if they maintained their weight throughout the year? This was interesting and creative.
I know that when I'm really working out, and am in good shape, I'm much heavier (muscle weight vs. fat weight) than if I'm sedentary. I'd be chipping in quite a bit of money to the pot!

This is a free site that has quite a few tools to help people stay on track including- tracking calories/carbs/proteins, articles, restaurant menu analysis, shopping lists, online community, body fat calculator, and a BMI calculator.
that it may not be the best way to gauge weight loss by paying but it has worked tremendously. I did meet with our plant nurse and we are taking a different direction. We will offer different diets that they may chose to follow and offer wellness related prizes when they meet certain milestones in their weight loss. Thank you to everyone for their ideas and input!
What a wonderful program you are involved in. I like the idea of using $1 per week/pound as a motivator. One website I have found that I like is from Health Canada (I live in Canada). It is unique in that there is an interactive tool that can be used to personalized the food guide using food you like/want to eat. It is customized just for you! I realize it might be somewhat different from the US guide, but I believe them to be very similar. "By entering personal information, such as age and sex, selecting various items from the four food groups and choosing different types of physical activities, you can create a tool that is customized just for you."
