Cricket Tuesday
On Tuesday next week, March 10th at 11am I'm going to get out the cricket equipment so we can play a game in the big gym of Quinn. It won't be a full game because that will take days and involve tea.
Self-defense Session at Takemusukai
For those of you in La Grande, I have scheduled a self-defense session with David Tift at his dojo. I really enjoy his philosophy and presentation, so I keep scheduling him with this class every year. This meeting will be Thursday, March 12th at 11 am. The place is called Takemusukai and is located on 105 Depot Street. This is near Ten Depot restaurant. See map below: Read more »

4 Lesson Plans: Tag/Chase/Flee Activities
Four Lesson Plans for Activities Involving “Tag/Chase/Flee”
LESSON 1
“Sheep and Fox”
Intended for grade levels K-2
Equipment: None; Open Area
Objectives: Watching out for other players, running safely in crowded area, tagging, dodging, and reacting quickly to verbal cues
How to Instruct: Line students up on one end of gym. These players are designated as “sheep”. One student is selected as the fox. The fox begins the game by naming off times. The time equals the number of steps taken by the sheep towards the fox (4 o’clock = 4 steps). When fox says mid-night, the sheep run to other end of the gym. If fox tags sheep the sheep become foxes also. The last sheep left is the winner and the next fox in the game. Baseline of other gym is considered a safety zone.

Upon whistle, the game begins. The object of the whole game is to push, pull, or twist your opponent to the floor. You win a match when your opponent is “down”. A “down” occurs when a body part touches the floor other than the feet. Play three matches and then have people switch partners.
