Good points made about the need for a batting cage. Players could be working on their defensive skills instead of watching batting practice. You will save valuable time because the hitting drills will not take so long. I once played on a high school field in south Misisssippi that did not have a fence. It was like playing in a pasture. It can be done but I agree it would make the girls feel better about their program. Last week a high school second baseman was hit in the eye with a line drive. How do you feel about moving the bases back in softball?
softball can be dangerous sport but i think the bases should stay the same. To me its a risk that you take to play softball and play in the infield. I am a first basemen and i have had a few close calls but its the chance i take being a first basemen.I love being in the infield and i wouldn't change it for anything. If you move the bases back then it would be easier for slappers to get on. Coaches really need to work on reaction time with infielders. To make the chance of getting hit with a line drive less likely. That is my opinion.
