Day 1: Introduction & Skills Analysis
Equipment: Soccer balls, beanbags, scarf’s, jump ropes, tennis balls, 8-inch foam balls, basketballs
Introductory Activity: Body Part Identification: Beanbags laid out on floor, students run between, around, and jump over bean bags. Teacher calls out a body part, the students find a beanbag and put that body part on it.
Teaching Cues:
Stay in a continuous movement
Try jumping, hopping, skipping around and over bean bags
Adapt body placement in order to put body part on beanbag
Activity: Skills Analysis
Throwing: Students demonstrate how to properly throw a ball 4 consecutive times
Catching: Students demonstrate how to properly catch a ball 4 consecutive times
Kicking & Trapping: Students demonstrate how to properly kick and trap a soccer ball 4 consecutive times with each foot
Dribbling: Students demonstrate how to properly dribble a basketball 5 consecutive times with each hand
Striking: Students demonstrate how to properly strike a tennis ball, with their hand, against a wall 3 consecutive times
Bowling: Students demonstrate how to properly bowl a ball through a human straddled target 3 consecutive times
Juggling: Students demonstrate how to properly column and cascade juggle 3 scarf’s
Jump Rope: Students will demonstrate a Two-foot basic Step: 10 turns & Alternate-foot basic step: 10 turns
Day 2: Throwing & Catching
Equipment: Bean bags, 8-inch foam balls
Introductory Activity: Freeze Tag: Two-to-four student’s will be designated tagger’s, if a student gets tagged then they freeze, another student can unfreeze them. Have students move in different locomotor movements.
Teaching Cues:
Emphasize correct locomotor skills and movements
Tag other students safely
Activity: Tossing and Catching in Place: Students toss ball up in air and catch it. Gradually move around and toss it and catch it. Try tossing ball up in air and clapping hands before you catch it or touch a body part a certain amount of times.
Teaching Cues:
Keep eye on ball
Catch ball with both hands
Activity: Partner throw and catch: Students partner up and play catch, first with a beanbag, then a ball.
Teaching Cues: Throwing & Catching
1. Standing with throwing arm to the side of body, facing the target
2. Step toward target with opposite foot of throwing hand, Rotate hips, Bend arm at elbow
3. Follow throw, shifting weight to the front foot
4. Keep eye on ball
5. Reach for ball, bring hands inward to body
6. Body in front of ball
Activity: 500: One student has ball, the rest of the students are in a group, a considerable distance away. The student with the ball throws it high in the air and calls out a certain amount of points, which ever student catches it gets the points. The first student to get 500 points becomes new thrower.
Day 3: Kicking & Trapping
Equipment: Soccer balls, bases
Introductory Activity: Individual Jump Roping: Each student runs around with a jump rope in hand, on the teacher’s signal the students stop and jump rope.
Teaching Cues:
Don’t use jump ropes inappropriately
Try hopping, jumping, or skipping through jump rope
Activity: Kick & Trap against a wall: Partner up and practice kicking a soccer ball against a wall, practice trapping it when it comes back to you.
Teaching Cues:
Stand behind and slightly to side of ball
Keep eyes on ball
Step forward with non-kicking leg
Reach to meet ball
Activity: Partner kick and trap: Practice kicking and trapping with a partner
Activity: Kickball: Split students up into two equal teams. Have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and home base. Pitcher pitches ball to opposing team, other team has to score as many runs as they can before they get three outs, then teams switch places.
Day 4: Dribbling (with hands)
Equipment: Basketballs
Introductory Activity: Body Part tag: Two to four students are designated taggers, other students run, hop, skip, or jump around. Designated taggers have to tag body part that teacher calls out.
Teaching Cues:
If you get tagged freeze
Conduct activity safely
Activity: Dribble in place: Students practice dribbling a basketball with each hand while standing In place.
Teaching Cues:
Keep hand on top of ball
Push ball to floor
Cradle ball as it comes back up, don’t slap it
Activity: Dribble on the move: Students practice dribbling with each hand while jogging, skipping, or hopping.
Activity: Dribble keep away: Students move dribble around, while hopping, skipping, or jogging, trying to knock away other student’s balls. Have students that get out stand and dribble. The last student moving wins.
Review (Day 5): Throwing, Catching, Kicking, Trapping, Dribbling
Equipment: 8-inch foam balls, soccer balls, basketballs, hula hoops
Introductory Activity: Hula hoop: Students run around holding hoop, on teachers signal, the student stops and does hula-hooping or lays hoop on floor and jumps in and out of it.
Teaching Cues:
Use hips to keep hula going
Bend knees when jumping
Activity: Partner throw and catch: Students partner up and play catch, first with a beanbag, then a ball.

Day 6: Striking
Equipment: Beach balls, tennis balls
Introductory Activity: Secret Movement: Teacher has a secret movement memorized, students run around until teacher says “secret movement” than student will perform a movement. The teacher identifies the student’s that are correct and the rest of the class follows.
Activity: Partner up batting against wall: Student’s partner up, using a beach ball, students practice batting ball against wall using their hand.
Teaching Cues:
Track the ball with eyes until it is hit
Elbows kept away from body
Arm swung in a horizontal plane
Activity: Batting tennis ball against wall: Student will drop tennis ball and bat it against wall, using proper technique, and not making hard contact with the ball.
Activity: Chant Ball: Students use a beach ball, try to keep it in the air by striking it upward. The students count each time the ball is hit. Try eventually adding two balls.
Day 7: Bowling
Equipment: soccer balls, 18-30-inch cage ball
Introductory Activity: Freeze Tag: Two-to-four student’s will be designated tagger’s, if a student gets tagged then they freeze, another student can unfreeze them. Have students move in different locomotor movements.
Activity: Partner roll: Partner up, rolling ball back and forth to each other
Teaching Cues:
Feet together, ball held with both hands
Step right, left, right, left and release the ball forward
Bring ball back during the second and third steps
Activity: Partner Straddle roll: Three students partner up, one student stands in the middle in a straddled position, the other two students practice rolling ball through the middle student’s legs.
Activity: Cage ball target throw: Students are split up into two teams. There are a bunch of soccer balls place on floor, the teams have to try to roll the balls, by rolling the cage balls and hitting them. The team to get all the balls on the other teams half of the court wins.
Day 8 Juggling
Equipment: Jump ropes, scarf’s
Introductory Activity: Individual Jump Roping: Each student runs around with a jump rope in hand, on the teacher’s signal the students stop and jump rope.
Teaching Cues:
Don’t use jump ropes inappropriately
Try hopping, jumping, or skipping through jump rope
Activity: Cascade juggling: Start with one scarf. Hold scarf in center, move arm quickly across chest and toss the scarf with palm up. Reach out with other hand and catch the scarf in a straight downward motion. Continue with other hand, the scarf should move in a figure-eight-pattern. Progress trying two then three scarfs.
Teaching Cues:
Catch scarf by clawing
Grab scarf as it is falling
Toss scarf’s straight up in a line
Activity: Column Juggling: Scarf’s move straight up and down. Start with two scarf’s in one hand, and one in other hand. Toss one scarf from hand with two scarf’s straight up over the head in a straight line. When that scarf reaches its peak, toss the other two scarf’s up along the sides of the body. Continue pattern after first scarf is caught at original starting point.
Day 9: Jump Roping
Equipment: Bean bags, jump ropes
Introductory Activity: Body Part Identification: Beanbags laid out on floor, students run between, around, and jump over bean bags. Teacher calls out a body part, the students find a beanbag and put that body part on it.
Activity: Rope Forming a Circle: Form a circle with a jump rope, practice jumping in and out of it front wards, backwards, from side to side, without touching the rope.
Teaching Cues:
Keep knees bent
Lift feet off ground
Stay on balls of feet
Activity: Side Swing: Students have a jump rope, stand in place and swing the rope held with both hands to one side of the body. Alternate sides of body.
Activity: Individual Jump Roping: Every student gets a jump rope and practices individually. Practice hopping on one foot, skipping, running in place, etc…
Teaching Cues:
Stay in a continuous movement
2. Stay on balls of feet
3. Maintain balance
Day 10: Jump Roping
Equipment: Jump ropes
Introductory Activity: Body Part tag: Two to four students are designated taggers, other students run, hop, skip, or jump around. Designated taggers have to tag body part that teacher calls out.
Teaching Cues:
1. If you get tagged freeze
2. Conduct activity safely
Activity: Two-foot basic Step: Jump over the rope, feet together as rope passes under feet.
Teaching Cues:
Keep feet together
Take a preparatory rebound when rope is overhead
Activity: Alternate-foot basic step: As Rope goes under feet, weight is shifted from one foot to the other, the raised foot placed in a running position.
Teaching Cues:
1. Keep weight on one foot
Activity: Partner Rope Jump: Partners face each other with one jump rope, one partner propels jump rope, both partners jumping at the same time.
Day 11: Review Skills
Equipment: Soccer balls, scarf’s, jump ropes, tennis balls, 8-inch foam balls, basketballs
Activity: Partner throw and catch: Students partner up and play catch, first with a beanbag, then a ball.

Equipment: Soccer balls, scarf’s, jump ropes, tennis balls, 8-inch foam balls, basketballs
Set-up: Students will partner up and practice throwing, catching, kicking, trapping, dribbling, striking, bowling, juggling, and jump roping while other students are assessed.
Each Student needs to perform each skill according to the standards:
Grading
30% Participation: Being involved in the activities
30% Attendance: Showing up to class, and on time
30% Skills Test: Being able to demonstrate stunts
10% Following class rules, proper behavior

Throwing: Students demonstrate how to properly throw a ball 4 consecutive times
Catching: Students demonstrate how to properly catch a ball 4 consecutive times
