Circuit Training Unit Plan Collaboration

Here is what I have started for a unit plan collaboration of 12 lesson plans for circuit training.
I would appreciate anyone to add on lesson plans, comments or suggestions.
* The beautiful calendar I made is not posting as I would like, so please bear with it.

Unit: Circuit Training
Grade: 4-6

Unit Objectives:

Each student will be able to give specific examples of 2-3 exercises that fit into muscular strength, cardiovascular and flexibility categories.
Each student will perform a fitness assessment at the beginning of the unit plan and at the end, which will include sit up, push up, sit and reach and PACER test.
Each student will be able to perform a variety of exercises such as jump rope, sit ups, push ups, etc. in correct form.
Each student will perform the exercises, as many as they can, in 45 second increments, giving a 15 second station change time.
Each student will be able to identify which general muscle groups are used in each of the exercises they perform.
Each student will learn how to, and motivate and encourage each other during exercise sessions.
Each student will name an exercise to be a part of a class collaboration in making their own circuit training class.

These lesson plans are based on a 4 week unit plan for Circuit Training. Students will attend Physical Education class for 30 minutes, 3 times each week and spend a portion of that time performing a circuit training class.

Daily Schedule:
Basic Rules:
Basic Skills: Fundamental & Locomotor & Nonlocomotor Skills
Games: Introductory Games/Activities
Evaluations: Visual assessment of students performing exercises correctly

Lesson Plan 1

Lesson Goal:
Educate in the concept of circuit training and its benefits in the various aspects of physical fitness.
Introduce and have students perform activities (and appropriate modifications) that will incorporate each of these physical fitness activities.

Introductory Activity:
Class will start by running into a game of red light, green light for about 3-5 minutes.
We will split the class in half by having them sit toe to toe in the dividing line in the gym as quickly as they can.
Each child will have a partner to exercise with at each station.

Pre Activity:
Instructor will give a brief explanation of the different areas of physical fitness and how circuit training is beneficial in all of these areas.
Instructor will demonstrate and discuss proper execution of exercise and modifications at each station, as well as improper execution.
A time for questions and answers will take place.
Activity:
The circuit consists of 10 stations in the gym.
1. Hula Hoop with water filled hula
2. Pushups
3. Jump Rope
4. Squat w/kicks
5. Dribble basketball through cones
6. Bear Crawl
7. Moving Side Squat w/arm raise
8. Side to Side hops over cone
9. Sprints
10. Quick feet footballs moving with feet through hoops

Teaching Cues:
Students will be given specific instructions on how to perform exercises, as well as having instructor individually assist and monitor each student during circuit. Examples for some are:
Hula Hoop: place feet a little wider than shoulder width apart, slightly bend knees; make circular motions with your hips
Pushups: Hands will be start under your shoulders then move out to the side about one hand width. When you come down your elbows will come out to the sides. You are only moving your upper body, rest of the body stays straight.
Squat/Kicks: When coming down into a squat, make sure you can lift your toes, that your knees do not come in front of your toes, and pretend like you are going to sit on an imaginary chair. When kicking make sure you life your knee and then extend out your foot.
Encouraging cues will be given throughout the class period, such as "good job", "keep up the good work", "remember to do YOUR best"

Cool down activity will consist of walking around gym several times with a brief water break
Demonstration and verbal instruction of stretching activities will take place.
Students will help clean up exercise stations before heading back to class.
