Publicity Guideline

Contributors to the site are expected to exhibit a sense of professional pride in their contributions. To confirm this, they should provide their real full name as their user name so the work they author displays an appropriate byline. A person's name is very important. This site is meant to be an extension of reality, not a virtual reality. The use of real names will allow the following benefits:

  • A sense of ownership for the presented work.
  • Better credibility of the website and its content.
  • Legitimizing use of the contributions on vitas and resumes.
  • Authorship identified for positive online reputation management.
  • Avoiding common problems with anonymity like net heckling and computer rage.

While much of the site content is intended to be public, UniCommons.com does recognize the need for presenting some private contributions. Some "group" presentations have the option to remain private within the group. Also, opportunities exist to present unpublished information whereby only instructors or reviewers will have access. In some cases, users may strongly feel like contributing to the site but must remain anonymous for extraordinary reasons. These users may request the use of an appropriate pseudonym using this contact form.
