Starting our own timeline
Comments
- I found an interesting timeline that goes back to ancient Greeks using enhancing drugs on their competitions until nowadays where we see commonly articles about professional athletes using performance and enhancing drugs to improve their athletic performance. I found this timeline very curious, and had no idea that drug abuse in sports would go back to ancient Greek culture. Please let me know what you think about it, and if we could possibly add some facts on our timeline that are based on this one! Thank you Tiago
- The northnet.org site provides good information on women's progression into sport. Infoplease.com site provides a history timeline of the Olympic Games. Historyworld.com gives information on sports history while the timelineindex.com site serves as a good categorical timeline in case you want to look up something specific. -Andrew Perri
- I'd like to add to that Andrew. We could possibly have a whole section of the time line devoted to women athletes. It was just two generations ago that women did not have sports in school. Not many anyway. What about the beginnings of the Olympics.....Women involvement? zip. We could really take off on this. Phil King
- I agree with you Phil and Andrew. I think that the idea of women involvement in athletics would take off and would be interesting to research. I havn't heard much about womens involvement in sports, as far as history goes. It would be interesting to find out more!
- Based on discussion in class, we decided to add check boxes for physical education and for sport to help keep the events separated accordingly. The initial emphasis will be for physical education only. We also added a few more characteristics on the entry form. -Brian Sather
The following elements were discussed to include on an entry form for each event
- Event Date
- Event Name
- Event Location
- Description
- Reference/source
- Select boxes: International event, Local/Regional Event, United States, Physical Education, Sport, Women's Only, Legal Issues, College, High School, and Elementary
