Goals
- Demonstrate an understanding of pertinent ethical and philosophical issues in written essays.
- Examine current philosophical and ethical issues in sport by following news stories throughout the semester and discussing the topics.
- Understand how to apply the following four moral values to sport and wellness situations: beneficence, honesty, justice, and responsibility.
- Recall specific information and formulate intelligent essays about contributions to sport history by people, institutions, and events.
- Acquire the ability to critically examine current trends, policies, and ethical issues related to sport.
- Understand how sport interacts with social forces such as religion, government, and international relations.
- Manage time effectively and show proficiency working within a scholarly community networking platform.
Schedule
- Weeks 1-9: Interaction & presentations regarding current topics in ethics of sport.
- Weeks 1-3: History of Physical Education and Sports.
- Week 4: Philosophy & moral values.
- Week 5: Exam 1
- Weeks 5-10: Ethics topics
- Week 10: Exam 2
