Golf Rules

Number in group: Twosome, single, threesome, foursome.
Parts of the hole: tee box, fairway, green, apron, rough, fringe, flagstick, bunker.
Equipment: Explain difference between woods, long irons, short irons, wedges.
Types of play: Stroke (medal) or match
Order of play: Honor and out.
Definitions
- Loose impediments: Natural objects such as stones, leaves, twigs, and branches provided they are not fixed or growing and do not adhere to the ball. Sand and loose soil are loose impediments on the green only. A player may legally move lose impediments unless they are in a sand trap.
- Obstructions: Anything artificial including artificial surfaces except objects defining out of bounds (i. e. walls, fences, stakes).
- General penalty: A penalty for a breach of rules is 2 strokes except when otherwise provided. Exception: 1 stroke penalty when ball is accidentally moved.
Relief Options
Water hazard (yellow stakes)
- Hit from where it lays - no penalty
- Previous spot - 1 stroke penalty
- Any distance behind keeping point of entry in line with flagstick - 1 stroke penalty
Lateral hazard (red stakes)
- Hit from where it lays - no penalty
- Previous spot - 1 stroke penalty
- Any distance behind keeping point of entry in line with flagstick - 1 stroke penalty
- Within 2 club lengths on either side of where it went in but no closer to the hole - 1 stroke penalty
Ground under repair, casual water, obstruction: Drop ball within 1 club length of nearest point of relief no closer to hole - no penalty
Unplayable lie
- Previous spot - 1 stroke penalty
- Any distance behind keeping point of entry in line with flagstick - 1 stroke penalty
- Within 2 club lengths no nearer hole - 1 stroke penalty
Out of bounds, lost ball: Hit from previous spot - 1 stroke penalty
