Football Offense and Defense Positions

Offense positions and roles:
- Quarterback: Play caller, good vision, knowledge of game, quick, smart, leader.
- Running backs: Speed, quickness, vision of field.
- Center: snaps, blocking position, good hands
- Linemen: strong, physical, quick feet.
- Tight end: good blocker, tall, good hands.
- Receivers: height, speed, hands, cuts, jumping
Huddle called by center. Everyone listens to QB
Defensive Positions
- Linebacker: Diagnose situations, control the field, make important tackles.
- Defensive lineman: strong, low center of gravity, quick first step.
- Defensive back: good footwork, speed laterally and backward, good anticipation.
- Safety: Never let behind, look to intercept
Blitzes (extra rushers) and defensive changes: Code (color) called by captain to add a blitz.
There are numerous playbooks that are helpful in developing offense and defense strategy.
